Nordic Skiing at
STARK's HILL

Since the 1930's the Weston family has been involved in supporting the sport of skiing in the Fryeburg community.  The majority of that has history has involved the use and development of Stark's Hill in Fryeburg as a Nordic ski area for the local ski teams.  Portions of the now 900 acre Stark's Hill property have been in the Weston family since the 1800's.  Stark's Hill was originally used as a downhill ski area by Fryeburg Academy and then as a commercial ski area called
Ski-W in the early 1970's.

Today the property has evolved into a competition Nordic race and training course for Fryeburg Academy and the development programs at the Fryeburg Middle School and Recreation Department.  The 7 kilometer system annually hosts high school and middle school races and championships and was highlighted in 2010 when it hosted the New England Bill Koch Festival.
